2015 Valor Games Midwest Schedule of Events

The Valor Games Midwest is an introductory adaptive sports competition for veterans and service members with physical and visual disabilities. During the three-day event, athletes compete in discus, shot put, cycling, archery, powerlifting and indoor rowing.

Promoting healthy, active lifestyles is important to successful community reintegration and overall life satisfaction. World Sport Chicago is proud to support such endeavors. This event is organized in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Chicago Park District.

Qualifying athletes may be active duty service members or veterans from any era. Their disabilities may include:

  • Amputation/limb loss
  • Post traumatic stress
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Stroke
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Visual disabilities, or
  • Any disability rating from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The 5th annual Valor Games Midwest will be held August 18 – 20, 2015 in Chicago. Friends and family of participating athletes are encouraged to view the schedule of events below, and come watch the Valor Games Midwest to show support.

Participant registration is now closed, if you have already registered and your plans must change please contact [email protected] or 312-861-4848. As a reminder any registered participant who does not cancel in advance, and is a ‘no show’ to the event, is subject to being banned from future Valor Games Midwest events.

Tuesday, August 18th:
Soldier Field – 1410 Museum Campus Dr, Chicago, IL 60605 (Gate O)
Free parking is available at the Waldron Parking Deck

10:00 AM – 10:30 AM – Opening Ceremonies
11:00 AM – 3:00 PM – Veterans Resource Expo, Biathlon Clinic, Judo Clinic
11:30 AM – Shot put Competition
1:30 PM – Discus Competition. Shot put and Discus awards to immediately follow.

Wednesday, August 19th:
Armour Square Park – 3309 S Shields Ave, Chicago, IL 60616
Free parking is available in US Cellular Field Parking Lot A

9:30 AM – 9:40 AM – Opening Remarks
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM – Cycling Competition
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Archery Competition. Cycling and Archery awards to immediately follow.
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Sit Volleyball, Biathlon and Adaptive Tennis Clinics
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Sit Volleyball, Biathlon and Adaptive Tennis Clinics

Thursdsay, August 20th:
Marquette Park – 6743 S Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL 60629 (corner of Mann Dr. and S Kedzie at the Fieldhouse)
Free street parking is available along Mann Dr.

9:05 AM – 9:15 AM – Opening Remarks
9:15 AM – 12:30 PM – Indoor Rowing Competition
9:30 AM – 12:30 PM – Powerlifting Competition
9:30 AM – 1:00 PM – Fishing and Boccia Clinics
12:30 PM – 1:45 PM – Closing Ceremonies. Indoor Rowing and Powerlifting awards.
