In a facebook post published on August 2, 2015, Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer talks about Lt Cmdr Timothy White, the head of the Naval Support Reserve Center that was fired upon by Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez. Meyer asks that you “Join me in demanding all possible charges against Lt Cmdr Timothy White be dropped and that he be recognized for acting honorable.”
Read the post Dakota Meyer shared below:
“A story that has been released through smaller outlets but has yet to really be discussed in major media outlets is that Lt Cmdr Timothy White, the individual in command of the Naval Support Reserve Center, is being brought up on charges for discharging a firearm on Federal property during the shooting that recently occurred in Chattanooga, TN.
I’ll restate that for you, the head of the Naval Support Reserve Center who was fired upon by a jihad is is being charged because he fired back. To say that this is a horrific failure of the United States Armed Forces is an understatement. Mr Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, why haven’t you stepped in and put this issue to rest? This is an obvious case of applying the spirit of the law versus the letter of the law. It is grossly apparent that the law never took into consideration that a jihadist would be standing outside the door pumping rounds into a United States Military facility on US soil. This man should be recognized for bravery in the face of an attack, not charged with a crime. In a day and age of neverending bureaucratic fails this will be just another to throw on the pile. The administration could come out and do something about this but instead will surely spin it into some sort of apology to the Muslim community for having a member of the military fire upon a Muslim in an unfortunate “lone wolf” effort which was the act of a man that was evidently just depressed.
This is still the United States of America… the constitution still reads “We the people…”. So, we the people need to again speak out, just as we did to get the flags lowered after this tragedy. We the people need to demand this be treated as an honorable act and not a crime. Join me in demanding all possible charges against Lt Cmdr Timothy White be dropped and that he be recognized for acting honorable.
Sometimes you need to disobey an order so that you can do the right things. LT Cmdr White did just that to save the lives of those under his command.”
