The National Mounted Warfare Foundation has big plans to bring a world-class museum to the heart of Texas. The non-profit foundation was established to plan, fund-raise and build the National Mounted Warrior Museum which will not only preserve, interpret, and tell the story of Soldiers who have served in Mounted units, but also provide unique educational experiences for Soldiers and their Families and for the Civilian community across the Nation.
The museum will be a technologically advanced, interactive, state-of-the-art museum which will describe and honor the service of mounted warriors whom have served in Fort Hood based units. The museum will tell the story of how combined arms techniques, innovative units and technology, and adaptable leaders and Soldiers have been joined together to create the most effective fighting force in the world.
Slated to be included in the interior of the National Mounted Warrior Museum is 25,000 square feet of permanent exhibit space, galleries, an orientation theater, library and archives, children’s discovery area, classrooms, simulators and a museum store. The outdoor area will include dedicated areas for a military vehicle walking trail with both vintage and modern vehicles, an outdoor children’s recreation area and memorials and monuments. Renderings of what the museum will look like are shown below.
